Once you start entering names in each generation you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much easier it is to keep track of everyone. Since climbing your family tree (called genealogy) is about connecting one generation to the previous generation (i.e. you to your parents, your parents to their parents) it's critical to make sure each person is entered on the correct branch of the tree. Although you may think keeping track of everyone is easy, consider this: The number of your direct ancestors doubles with each generation (2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents). And this doesn't even include aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters. By the time you go back 10 generations you have over 1,000 direct ancestors. Keeping all those people straight without having them on a chart or tree template is almost impossible. There are two basic types of charts that you'll want to download. The first is a pedigree chart. A pedigree chart tracks your family back generation by generation, starting with you. The second is a family group sheet. This chart contains information about a single family unit (husband, wife, kids). The pedigree chart is like a wide-angle lens - it gives you the whole picture; a family group sheet is like a zoom lens because it zooms in on one small bit of the tree. If you own genealogy software you probably already have access to free family tree templates. 5:46 pm	Holidaying in France France is definitely one of the most romantic countries in Europe: tranquil gardens and quiet landscape interspersed with vineyards and hamlets. The ornate architecture has been a particular specialty from centuries past, and today, France is still one of the most frequented countries throughout the world. Looking at Bordeaux it is easy to understand the stories of chivalry and elegant lore. Wines produced in this region, scattered with 18th century buildings, are said to be some of the finest in the world, grapes ripened on a land with a great deal to 'tell the world'. Whilst holidaying in France it is easy to see the influence of the Scandinavians, the Romans occupation and the British castles throughout the time, as the French loved their way of life, developing a people and a nation who loved their culture. The well known Notre Dame Cathedrale in Paris was built during the 12th century and through the turmoil of change, the Louvre was first used as a castle. These 18th century buildings often receive many tourists, and display the change in French culture over the centuries. Regardless of who was ruling the country the French remained uniquely patriotic pulling other nations to their energy century after century, and still, to this day. The trip to Bordeaux is about three hours and leave on a schedule of every two hours from Paris. No voyage can be taken to France without giving special attention to the food. France has such a variety of cheeses, breads and pastries of all kinds. The food menus can be compared to, fine paintings executed by the finest artist in the world, except that they are edible. Whilst in Bordeaux participation in a wine and cheese tasting is a must. Visiting some of the area's wonderful Chateaux and some of the finest wineries in the vicinity. 8:57 pm	The Roman Catholic Celebration of Mardi Gras Mardi Gras is a Roman Catholic ritual dating back as far as 5,000 years. It is a celebration of indulgence of food and drink that takes place generally immediately before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the fast of Lent. The first American Mardi Gras was celebrated near modern day New Orleans on March 3, 1699. I wasn't until the 1800's that these celebrations involved parades and things of that nature that we recognize today. Did you know that this special celebration also has its own designated colors? That's right. These colors are purple, green, and gold. Purple represents justice, green is for faith, and gold symbolizes power. So if you decide to dress up for this occasion these three colors are the perfect choice. A great outfit may include a Jester's hat, a masquerade mask, and don't forget to wear a huge variety of beads around your neck. The more the merrier! 6:44 pm	Arezki El Bachir - Robinhood Kabylie Algeria - 1850's Arezki Bachir was born 'about 1857' in the village of Ait-Bouhouni in Kabylie Algeria (Azazga). He was the son of El Bashir and Ali and Ali Nait Tassadit Tadjibat, and belonged to the tribe of Ait-Ghobri. In 1857 Kabylie fell after resisting the advance of French troops. We now know of course, that it was not the end of the fighting. Lalla N'soumer Fadhma had bravely led the Kabylie people, but after the battle of Icherriden, she and her volunteer fighters were defeated. Not only did the villages have make contribution and pay millions for the war, the villages lost their autonomy and administrative law. The Assemblies of villages (Djemaa), that were previously the "wise" elected council, became a tool of the French administrators, with their leaders ("kingpins" and "amines") being appointed by the colonial authority. At the same time in Kabylia, the colonial authority began the operation of concession, exploitation and appropriation of village land to newly arrived settlers from Europe. Obviously, the allocation of land was not made until the colonial authority had confiscated it from the rightful owners. All this was done under the guise of colonial laws that was custom-made to dispossess the villagers of their property, their land and their herds. The villagers had no rights. The Yakouren uprising In the region of Azazga and Yakouren, where Arezki The Bashir lived, forests of cork oak attracted resource development companies. Arezki was only 14 when the uprising of 1871, led by El-Mokrani, had inflamed the entire eastern Algeria. He helplessly witnessed the harsh colonial repression on the population. The French government had by then created the law of "collective responsibility" for the actions of those the government called "criminals". From this came the cruel and unjust weapon of 'collective punishment'. Arezki Bachir decided from that moment to do everything he could to restore justice and protect the honor of his people. A few years later, when he was the foreman in the forest Yakouren a trigger point for the rebellion was created. He formed a small group of his most loyal companions to support the rights of the loggers who were being exploited. This small resistance soon grew into a into a rebellion against the confiscation of village land and against the excessive taxes being imposed. His group were involved in the assassination of French colonial official whether civil or military, Muslims or Christians. In the revolutionary's eyes, these people were traitors and criminals. His actions were politically motivated, but the French administration classified it as pure banditry. This quickly earned him a sentence of 20 years hard labor by the Assize Court of Algiers. (in absentia, of course). See, the Forest of Yakouren was one place where the French forces had not managed to capture. What made it even more difficult for the colonial administration was that his resistance group was growing. He now commanded about 300 men, all carefully sorted and selected by him. He wanted fighters convinced of the cause and not just bandits or simple thugs. It appears that he even had contact with Sheikh Bouamama, who, between 1881 and 1883, had led the insurgency in southern Oran. In the early 1890's, Arezki Bachir's new insurrection in Kabylia was firmly established. Meanwhile, the colonial administration was very concern about him. Arezki Bashir had become the "Avenger" whom the villagers of the region would ask for help. He, became the dispenser of justice in the region and in many people's eyes, had replaced the colonial authority. After being on the hunt for a month and a half with huge resources and reinforcements, Arezki The Bashir, tired and hungry was finally captured by the colonial administrators. His men dispersed with some dying in battle with others also being captured. The news of the arrest of Bashir Arezki became a sensation in Algiers. Arezki Bachir had successfully been the Kabylie "Avenger" for almost 15 years and had threatened the colonial authority. It was time now for the colonial authority to exhibit her trophy. Arezki el Bachir's execution and legacy Arezki Bachir was held in the prisons of Tizi-Ouzou and Barbarossa (currently Serkadji) for about a year. In that time he was visited by many European journalists and the merely curious who wanted to understand his personality and his motivations. All were very impressed by his character, finding him to be a person who commanded respect, and not the bandit that the colonial administration declared him to be. But his trial and that of his men held in January 1895, was the end for the Arezki Bashir and 9 of his followers who were sentenced to death. The others from the his group were convicted and sent to prison in New Caledonia. Arezki Bachir was guillotined on the 14 May 1895 at Azazga and was buried in a mass grave in Tizi-Bouch?ne. Luckily for the children out there, there are a plethora of games that adults can have them play throughout the get-together. Keep in mind when choosing which activities to play, that there needs to be the appropriate amount of space and equipment for each game to be fully enjoyed. Let's take a look at which types of games would be enjoyable for those smaller children, which are both simple and fun. Especially in a birthday party type of setting, games like catch the balloons and tag would be the easiest to play. However, more adventurous activities like duck, duck, goose and red light, green light would get those tykes out and active. No matter what kind of children's party games are played, there are definitely a few simple rules to keep in mind when planning everything out. The first bit of knowledge to keep in mind when picking out games to play is to remember who the games are for. Activities that are too challenging can turn people off to the fun. Also remember that where the party is taking place could easily determine what restrictions or extra options people have for everybody's enjoyment. 4:30 pm	10 Ways to Cook Bass From Your Fishing Trip BAKED BASS Split the fish and stuff with seasoned mashed potatoes. Put a little boiling water and a tablespoonful of butter into the baking-pan, and baste frequently while cooking. BAKED BASS WITH WHITE WINE Put a bass into a baking-dish with salt, pepper and mushroom liquor to season, and enough white wine to moisten. Cover with buttered paper and bake for fifteen minutes. Melt two tablespoonfuls of butter, add three tablespoonfuls of flour, and cook thoroughly. Add two cupfuls of white stock and cook until thick, stirring constantly. Take from the fire and add the yolks of three eggs beaten with a little cold water, and the juice of half a lemon. Add a tablespoonful of butter and the juice in the baking-pan. Pour over the bass and serve. Cover with slices of tomatoes and half of a sweet green pepper chopped fine. Dot with butter and bake for twenty minutes more. Take up the fish and rub the sauce through a colander. Stir in a tablespoonful of butter rolled in flour, add one teaspoonful of sugar and two teaspoonfuls of grated onion. Dilute with boiling water if too thick, bring to the boil, pour over the fish, and serve. BOILED SEA-BASS WITH EGG SAUCE Clean the fish, put it into warm salted water and simmer for twenty minutes.. Melt one tablespoonful of butter, add two tablespoonfuls of flour, and cook thoroughly. Add two cupfuls of the water in which the fish was boiled, and cook until thick, stirring constantly. Season with salt, pepper, minced parsley, and lemon-juice; add three hard-boiled eggs coarsely chopped, pour over the fish, and serve. BROILED BASS Clean the fish, split it, and cut each half into two or three pieces. Dip in oil or melted butter, sprinkle with flour, and broil carefully. BASS STEWED WITH TOMATOES Clean the fish, remove the bones and cut into square pieces. Fry two sliced onions in olive-oil. Lay the fish upon it, season with salt and pepper and pour over a can of tomatoes which have been rubbed through a sieve. Season with salt and pepper, cover closely, and cook for an hour. Serve in the same dish. BREADED FILLET OF BASS Clean the fish and cut into convenient pieces. Season with salt and pepper, dip in beaten egg, then in crumbs, and fry in deep fat. Serve very hot with Tartar Sauce. FRIED SEA-BASS WITH TARTAR SAUCE Clean and wipe small sea-bass, score the sides deeply, dip in milk, roll in flour, fry in deep fat, drain, sprinkle with salt, and garnish with quartered lemons and fried parsley. Serve with Tartar Sauce. STRIPED BASS À L'AMERICAINE Cook together one tablespoonful each of butter and flour, add a pint of oysters, with their liquor, and the yolks of two eggs, well beaten. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Prepare and trim a striped bass, fill with the oyster mixture, season, and sew up. Put into a fish-kettle with enough white wine and water, in equal parts, to cover. Add a sliced onion, a bunch of parsley, a little salt and pepper and a tablespoonful of butter. Simmer for an hour and drain. Strain the gravy and skim off the fat. Cook together two tablespoonfuls of flour and one of butter, add the strained liquid and cook until thick, stirring constantly. Take from the fire, add the yolks of four eggs beaten with four tablespoonfuls of melted butter, the juice of a lemon, and a tablespoonful of minced parsley. 3:59 pm	Freddy Krueger Most of you have heard of Freddy Krueger the horrific fictional character that was from "A Nightmare on Elm Street". This film which came out in 1984 managed to soar in the box offices due to the disfigured stalker who used a razor gloved arm to kill his victims. The best part about this killer is that he kills his victims in their deal which finally result in their death in the real world as well. This fictional character created by Wes Craven had been portrayed by Robert Englund. However in the 2010 remake this serial killer is being player by the Academy Award nominee, Jackie Earle Haley. Now although Kruger can attack his victims in their own dreams when he comes into the real world and has the usual human strength and he is very vulnerable. Most of us identify this murderer by his disfigured face which is burned, along with his dark green and red striped sweater and the brown fedora and who can forget the metal clawed brown leather glove which is like his trademark. I found that this person described this simply on this Tommie Senosk weblog. Wes Craven first got his inspiration of this heartless serial killer after he read a few stories in the Los Angeles Times. Although Wes first thought to make Krueger a child molester, he turned him into a child killer in the end. Now most of his inspirations came from ma bully he knew in high school and also a homeless man who had apparently frightened him when he was eleven. He says that the inspiration for creating Freddy's infamous clawed glove came form his cat. The "A Nightmare on Elm Street" horror franchise consists basically of nine films along with a TV show and also comic books too. In this film the killer basically kills teenager but does so in their dreams. If you want to know about the motives of the killer, it basically was the usual, revenge on parents who had apparently burned him while he was still alive. In the very first film, Freddy kills a group of teenagers but doesn't succeed in killing one, Nancy Thompson. In the end Nancy defeats Freddy by pulling the plug on his dream world and bringing him back to reality where he is vulnerable and Nancy isn't scared of him anymore. In the second movie he comes back to the house where Nancy used to live only to posses a new victim who is helped by his girlfriend to get rid of the spirit. In the third movie there is the return of Nancy Thompson who realizes at all the kids on Elm Street are being killed by Freddy. Nancy helps the kids to fight off Freddy but dies in the end. 6:39 pm	Wedding Day Rain There is an old saying that rain on your wedding day is a lucky omen. The Italians even have a saying for it, "Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata", which means that a wet bride is a lucky bride. In the U.S., it is commonly repeated that rain is lucky, although most brides would prefer a dry day and a little less luck! Rain is also considered to be a good wedding omen in Germany, Sweden, and France. This is possibly because rain is associated with a bountiful harvest, and thus, fertility. Some believe that the rainier the wedding day, the more children the marriage will produce. (So if you get married during a downpour, I guess that you can expects to have triplets!) However, not everyone considers rain to be a lucky charm; consider the old adage, "Happy is the bride whom the sun shines on". There are several superstitions that are said to ward off rain on the wedding day. One is to feed your cat on the morning of the wedding (this is a strange one - shouldn't you feed your cat every morning?). Catholics can hang a rosary outdoors on the day of their nuptials to put a stop to rain in time for the ceremony. In parts of Spain, to avoid rain the bride or her mother can deliver a dozen freshly laid eggs to the nuns of the convent of St. Clare. Put double plastic covers over the gown to keep it dry, then slip into it once arriving at the church. If changing into your gown at the ceremony site is impractical, at least wait to put on your bridal shoes until arriving on dry land. You don't want to squish your way down the aisle in soggy footwear! If is does end up raining on your wedding day, the best thing to do is grin and bear it. I once attended a wedding ceremony held in a park on a very wet day. It was treacherous going down a steep hill of wet grass in high heels, but the couple had posted ushers with large umbrellas to escort the ladies to the ceremony site (which fortunately did have a tent over it), and some of the male guests also pitched in to help. It rained and rained, to the point where you could barely hear the musicians playing while the guests were being seated (and we were all wondering how we would hear the vows). Then the most amazing thing happened: just as the ceremony began, the rain suddenly stopped and the sky cleared. The bride and groom exchanged their vows under a beautiful beam of sunshine, which seemed like a lucky omen, indeed. Even though her train was soaked, and her hair was frizzy, the bride was radiant with an inner bliss (and at least her wedding jewelry was dry and fabulous!). So if the weatherman predicts inclement weather for your wedding day, just remember the French saying, "Mariage pluvieux, mariage heureux", which promises a happy marriage as a result of a wet wedding. As everyone is watching all the civil unrest in places like Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt, Syria, Algeria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan with demonstrations, protests, marches, and riots in the street forcing governments to fold or acquiesce one perhaps is not considering the full-extent of this growing global challenge which exists. Economic conditions, inflation, unemployment, and high food prices are seriously taking their toll, but what on the other side of the globe? What about in North, Central, and South America? How about in countries like Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Bolivia, and let's not forget the severe crisis brewing in Venezuela, perhaps worst of all, as Hugo Chavez works his way into a constitutional set of amendments allowing him to be a perpetually king through hijacked pretend and manipulated elections, while the nations continues to collapse economically. I found that this site demonstrated this smartly on this Gene Snider weblog. Indeed, recently there was an interesting presentation which actually considered such challenges happening in the world, and where else such civil unrest was likely to occur next. The presentation was by the Hudson Institute in Washington DC. Titled; "Social Unrest and Political Instability in Venezuela" (February 9, 2011) at the Hudson Institute's Center for Latin American Studies and the Institute for Foreign Policy. The efficiency of the Venezuelan economy has been stopped cold, and rather than Chavez adopting the proper economic fixes and re-introducing a more free-market approach, he continues to shore up the challenges by creating new socialist programs. Today, Venezuelans are at a flash point, one which has come a lot faster than the 30-years of less-than-perfect economic times in Egypt. Will the people of Venezuela over throw their leader too? Is Venezuela next on the list of potential calamities? And what might that do to the stability of South America? Will Venezuela tighten down the locks on its people as North Korea, Iran, Cuba, and other nations have done, or will the people rise up and take arms. So far, all minor protests have been culled and the media has literally been taken over. But if you want my assessment, I'd say something like this could happen in Venezuela at any time. Usually during this season, the temperature of the surroundings also changes in to cooler. As the holiday festivities begins, the residents also light their fireplaces and other lighting which added magnificent touch to warm up your comfortable nest. The best place to spend your family around the fire pit in your house. This is where the coziest spot in your house because of the warm produce by the fire. Despite of the dropping of temperature, you are still able to go outside and enjoy the night with your families and friends while your outdoor fire pit is providing the enough heat needed by the body. Robert Kiyosaki had a rich dad and a poor dad, the poor dad had a stable job but didn't manage money well and therefore was poor, the rich dad built an empire and managed his money like a rich person even though at the start he was poor. He teaches about financial intelligence. What's financial intelligence? Financial intelligence is knowing how to make money, how to money can make money. Here's some of the key points in the book: Acquire assets, reduce liabilities One of the main points in the book that made a lot of sense to me is to acquire assets and reduce liabilities. This seems like a simple idea that a lot of people try to do, but Kiyosaki explains that there are millions of people doing it wrong! Your house and car is not a asset, if you have a mortgage it eats away at your money. Assets are things that make you money such as stocks, real estate that you acquire to sell on for a profit, or a business that you own. Cash Flow Robert Kiyosaki designed a simple diagram of the cashflow of a poor person, middle class person, and the rich. The poor and middle class's money comes in and out. Wealth Some of the "middle class " consider themselves wealthy due to the fact they they have a nice car, house and are enjoying the luxuries in life. Robert Kiyosaki retired in his mid 30's, cause he felt like had enough wealth and could continue his lifestyle with what his assets were giving him, and decided to work only when he needed more money or felt like it, when he said work, that just meant actually doing something to make money, not getting a job and working for someone else. Wealth is measured by the ability to be financially independent without doing much work, he explains how this is possible through his asset/liabilities ideas.
